Career: After studying counselling to help her in the corporate world Sue decided this was the path she wanted to take and has been counselling since 2002. Sue worked with Victim Support for many years specialising in serious crime and families who were bereaved by homicide. During this time she also worked with S.C.A.R.D. (Support and Care After Road Death & Injury) where she specialised in trauma. Sue also works with the children’s charity Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust, here she counsels children and young people suffering trauma through abuse and domestic violence.
Qualifications: Sue has trained to degree level in counselling and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and taken additional qualifications in Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Memberships: Sue is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Counselling Society. She is also a member of INLPTA, the International NLP Trainers Association.
Recent activities: Sue has recently set up the Pace Buddy Scheme whereby anyone contemplating amputation or struggling with any aspect of their amputation, is matched with a trained volunteer who has been through a similar experience.
Other: An accident at work resulting in amputation for her husband gave Sue an insight and understanding of the trauma experienced and the rehabilitation process. Sue uses an integrative approach to therapy drawing on many varied strategies to aid rehabilitation.
