Position (specialist area): HPC Registered Orthotist. Specialist in Brachial Plexus Injury Management, Spinal Orthotics for Scoliosis, post operative management and traumatic spinal injury, in addition to general Orthotic practice and complex orthopaedic and neurological cases

Location: Based at Chesham, Bucks.

Career: Martin qualified from the University of Stathclyde in 2003 and started his career at the prestigious Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

With a post in the specialist orthotpaedic hospital Martin has developed specialist knowledge and clinical skills in the areas of Spinal Conditions, Brachial Plexus Injury and complex lower limb orthotic management.

Since 2004 Martin has been at the forefront of brachial plexus management; modernizing the techniques and orthoses used to treat this condition. These development have been presented locally and internationally and reported in professional literature.

Currently Martin continues to work part time for the NHS whilst providing orthotic consultations and medical reports for Pace Rehabilitation.

Qualifications: BSc (hons) Prosthetics and Orthotics

Recent activities: In August 2006 Martin was approached by the Hope Rehabilitation Society in Lahore, Pakistan for orthotic and prosthetic provision in Pakistan for the task of developing the standard of orthotic treatment, especially scoliosis management. This was achieved through educating clinicians and technicians on modern biomechanics, techniques and materials, In 2004 Martin was a presenter and delegate at Australian Hand Therapy Association National Conference in Perth Australia.
